MGEN Labs - The Future of Business event

On Thursday, the 4th of May 2023, I had the honour of being one of the keynote speaker at the MGEN LABS Web 3.0 - The Future of Business event. The room was filled with anticipation as we gathered to explore the exciting possibilities that Web 3.0 holds for the future of business. Alongside me, we had speakers Austin Lewinsmith from Blockchain Collective and Antony Stinziani, the newly appointed Chief Information Officer of the Gold Coast City Council.

During my talk, I had the privilege of discussing why blockchain and Web 3.0 matter for the future. I emphasised the importance of understanding the logical building blocks that can be utilised to bring Web 3.0-enabled solutions to market. We delved into the potential commercial prospects where this technology can be applied in disruptive and transformative ways. The audience was incredibly receptive to these ideas, recognising the vast opportunities that lie ahead.

However, the key takeaway from my talk was that the future is unwritten. We find ourselves at an inflection point, where multiple disruptive technologies are converging and poised to reshape the business landscape and the world as a whole. Drawing a parallel to the advent of the Model T in 1908, which drastically transformed society by 1930, I emphasised that we cannot predict with certainty what the future will bring. What we do know is that the future will be shaped by those who harness and leverage these technological shifts. It is in the hands of the individuals in that room to drive and create that future.

In addition to the insightful discussions, we also had the pleasure of witnessing pitches from students Barry Lee, Vidya Pai, Diego Suarez, and Darshna Patel. These talented individuals presented their Blockchain application concepts, showcasing the applicability of blockchain and Web 3.0 to address real-world problems. Their passion and dedication were evident, and it was a proud moment to see the next generation embracing and leveraging these technologies to drive innovation. Congratulations to them on a remarkable night.

The MGEN LABS Web 3.0- The Future of Business event served as a reminder that we are living in a time of tremendous technological change. It was a gathering that ignited excitement, sparked ideas, and created connections among like-minded individuals who share a common vision for the future. We stand at the precipice of a new era, where the power of decentralisation, blockchain, and Web 3.0 can reshape industries, redefine business models, and empower individuals in unprecedented ways.
